ING Money Management app
2-week sprint . Concept project. Team of 2
Overview
Most people don’t have any system to track their spending and improve their spending habits to reach their saving goals. Some people use an old style using spreadsheets or notebooks, when other people use modern style, like a mobile app or desktop applications.
My Contribution
During this project, I conducted user research and usability tests. I was responsible for designing and iterating the progress bar functionality, creating the high fidelity prototype, and developing the visual design.
Good design, start with people
Our journey began with user research to understand users’ needs, pain points, and motivations. We interviewed seven people and did a survey.
Areas we Explored:
-
User financial and personal goals
-
How users manage their money
-
Roadblock to achieving goals.
People still want to feel in control of their money and plan for the future
Based on the research, I discovered:
"I USE 3-4 BANK ACCOUNTS TO MANAGE MY MONEY"
"I WANT TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR MY KID”
"I WANT TO KNOW WHERE MY MONEY IS GOING, FEEL IN CONTROL"
2 Primary personas
I decided not to prioritise any persona.I believe that the financial and banking should cover all their pains and gains.
Hanna cares about her future, but she doesn’t know how to manage her money
James wishes he could track his expenses in a more convenient way
Hanna and James are tempted to move to a new bank
Users want to manage their money, but the ING banking app doesn’t help keep track of their money and set goals. They may choose other banks if ING doesn’t fix the problem.
